As working parents ourselves, we at crafts4kids understand that it can be daunting trying to come up with a list of new and exciting activities for you and your little ones throughout the many school holidays. It can be even harder to think of things your child can enjoy with their carer - perhaps an aunt, uncle, older siblings or their grandparents.
If the weather is fine, it's really tempting to keep activities outside. There's something about fresh air that calms children down and tires them out so they may be happy to do a less hectic task when you get them back indoors. Rather than just a trip to the park – and no doubt there'll be many of these to enjoy during the school holidays – why not turn outdoor activities into a wildlife adventure?
If you equip your little one with a pair of binoculars and/or a magnifying glass, there's no end to the things they'll be able to discover. Parks often have ponds with various wildlife and foliage you can enjoy spotting and collecting. You don't just have to stick to the park either, a trip to the woods would probably uncover a whole load more animals, bugs and birds.

If you don't have enough time to get to either, then why not see what you can discover with your little one in your own garden. Worms, bugs and beetles are bound to be crawling around the soil.
The nice thing about playing in the garden is that you can combine it with a lesson in gardening by investing in a trowel, spade and a watering can for your little one.
You can designate an area of the garden to them and then go with them to buy some seeds. As well as flowers, they can even try their hand at growing their own vegetables. This will encourage not only their love of nature but encourage measuring and recording the growth, helping with letters and numbers.
